About Et elle

white-tableIn 2005, the vision for a group blog was way ahead of its time. But through this vision, Intellectuelle.com was born via a writing competition, judged by bloggers including Bonnie Lindblom and Joe Carter.  Since its inception, Intellectuelle has broadened its team of writers and became a vital source of inspiration and influence.

The vision for a group blog remains, but has certainly evolved. No longer is the emphasis theological and cultural reflection through the experience of women, but it is now reflection from a more human perspective. Dorothy Sayers once stated that to ask a woman’s perspective on anything was as ridiculous as asking the woman’s perspective on an equilateral triangle. Her message was clear. While there is always a woman’s experience to consider, we are first human. Therefore, let us pursue matters from a human perspective.

So now the vision of Intellectuelle has become more refined, to include  discussions on faith and culture written by men and women. As the gender wars rage in our world, we recognize the synergy that can exist among men and women as gifted thinkers and writers for the advancement of God’s kingdom. And together we gather around the table symbolized in the header, eager to impact our world together to the glory of God.  A mixed metaphor of sorts–or an awful pun–Et elle, et al. literally means “And she, and others,”  in French and Latin respectively.  Join us in this transition by leaving your comments and telling others about us. Social networking technology was in its infancy when Intellectuelle began roughly 5 years ago, and we know that the coming years will require  prayer, hard work, and a willingness to engage the latest technology as it becomes available. Each of us are excited about everything the future may hold. Thanks for stopping by Et elle!
